IEMT is reportedly a useful adjunctive to other therapeutic models and can be used in many scenarios where other techniques and approaches have failed or are unsuitable. The aim of the IEMT model is primarily to address undesired emotional and identity imprints, enabling a "freeing up" of conscious resources and placing the person more in the present time both psychological and emotionally.
Too many contemporary therapeutic approaches depend upon the verbal sophistication of the client and their ability to articulate "feelings". IEMT does not require the client to articulate their "feelings" and instead simply requires them to consciously identify the feeling they want to change.
